Munch!: For the Kids

“Munch is really for the kids”.

Those were the words spoke by our Sixth Avenue House co-host and Asbury Park food connoisseur.

We were in Asbury Park this (extended) weekend for a mini-vacation. (Yay!) And along the way… we found out that it was not just any weekend…it was Cat Show weekend! Yes, the crazy cat ladies (& lads) were out in full force. Preening and pampering their chosen furry feline friends. More than once we saw a cat owner feeding their cat a balled up mush of wwet cat food out of their hand! Talk about “eww”:

Above is the poster you see flanking the entrance doors to the convention hall – which is actually in this fantastic old building (that is crumbling to pieces; and being refurbished slowly).

Later, we found ourselves wandering around downtown Asbury desperate for a place to eat. Unfortunately, most places were closed on Mondays (who knew) so we made the only choice available to us….. Munch Restaurant.

It ended up not being that bad…just really casual and definitely “for the kids”. I gotta say though that when I asked if they had guacamole (& they didn’t) they very nicely went out of their way and whipped up some guac anyway. Here’s my barbecue chicken fajita…with guac spread on the side:

Then I turned my camera to Aimee’s delight.
To which outlandish action she protested: “Its really just a burger”,
“I don’t see why you’re taking a picture of my plate?”
“Hold still lettuce, you gotta a head for pictures” I retorted:

And what a big mound of lettuce indeed! Her burger was good. (But def. not Shake Shack good.)
